چکیده

The effect of feed additives Abiopeptide and Bio Iron on the productive qualities suckling sows piglets was studied. It has been established that their use leads to an increase in milk production sows, average daily growth safety piglets.

Torque teno virus (TTV) infection in sows and suckling piglets.

Torque teno virus (TTV) is a single-stranded DNA virus that has been detected in serum of primate and non-primate species including swine. Little information on swine TTV infection and transmission dynamics is nowadays available. The goal of this study was to gain insight into the potential role of the sow in transmitting TTV to piglets and the infection dynamics of both swine TTV genogroups (T...

Dietary inulin affects the intestinal microbiota in sows and their suckling piglets

BACKGROUND Several studies have focused on the effects of dietary inulin on the intestinal microbiota of weaned piglets. In the present study, inulin was added to a diet for gestating and lactating sows, expecting not only effects on the faecal microbiota of sows, but also on the bacterial cell numbers in the gastrointestinal tract of their piglets during the suckling period. Sows were fed a di...

Nonruminant Nutrition: Sows and piglets

Increasing the lactating sow feed intake is generally considered beneficial, but high inter-individual variability of the measurements makes difficult designing the trials on this subject. A meta-analysis of 10 trials (1111 sows, 8 genetics lines, parity 1–8, lactation duration 19–31d) was undertaken, comparing “control” diets (n = 12) to diets supplemented with the same strain of live yeast Sa...

Use of a crush-reducing device to decrease crushing of suckling piglets by sows.

Weanling pigs tend to avoid wind, and suckling piglets are thought to be more sensitive to wind than weanlings, owing to their thinner s.c. fat layer. We developed a crush-reducing device based on the anticipated behavior of suckling piglets toward wind and evaluated the performance of the device through field testing. The crush-reducing device consisted of six photo sensors, a controller, six ...
